Sustainable fashion, also called eco fashion, is a part of the growing design philosophy and trend of sustainability, the goal of which is to create a system which can be supported indefinitely in terms of human impact on the environment and social responsibility. It can be a trend against fast fashion.
Exactly this time last year, I’d joined several other ladies in a tweet chat organized by @sustyvibes to discus sustainability in general with my focus on Fashion. Use the hashtag #sustycelebchats to see most of those tweets.
My thoughts on this summarily;
Transparency is when a brand is able to name the factories that they are working with
The key difference is the majority of ethically made fashion are well made and will last longer. I want to change that consumer mindset of buying into cheap, seasonal trends and pieces you wear once and discard, to treat fashion as an investment to be loved and worn for years
Have you ever wondered who made your clothes, how much they’re paid & what their lives are like?? Sadly the majority live in poverty and can’t afford life’s basic necessities…
Demand greater transparency from clothing companies…
Learn to love pieces you’ve had for years and help reduce landfill..
its OK to re-use clothes you’ve already posted on your insta feed!!
practice sustainability by closing the loop of materials that prioritise community values and respect of all the people on the supply chain
