Hi lovely, how are you doinggggg?
I’m very well myself asides the death tolls from COVID-19, the pause in my work-life has been welcomed truthfully speaking. At the end of this post, I’d share a free online course – Understanding Fashion by a French Institute – which lasts for 4 weeks with you spending 3 hours/week.
Realised a few truths about my spending yesterday, did some research and found there are some things you (we) are spending on that are irrelevant to your growth and development. If you’d rather watch this in a video, click here.
1 Overdraft Fees
This basically makes the cost of whatever you are spending it on much more. Act like they don’t exist and live a life based on your means. Thankfully, some banks like HSBC are offering a fee-free experience for amounts less than £300, this is not something to get used to.
You do not have to have iTunes, Spotify and Tidal all on your phone. Spotify for e.g has a free version ! The premium (£9.99) has ads and you’re probably unable to make music available online. Oh well.
3 Games and in app purchases
How do you spend real money to buy tokens to make you go through levels in a game that doesn’t improve anything about yourself ??!!
4 Take away coffee
Buying your raw coffee and an environmentally sustainable re-usable cup makes more sense than seeing a minimum of £2 every time you enter a coffee shop (usually every workday)
5 Ordering food when you’re hungry
This is funny but ordering food when you are hungry is such a bad idea. You’d totally order for 3-4 people thinking you are too hungry. You can treat yourself once in a while but honey, Cook.
6 Cigarettes | Vaping (you don’t need it and it leads to addictions
Still waiting to be educated on the benefits of smoking cigarettes or vaping…and no, its not for the ‘warmth’. How does on spend so much on a habit that hurts your organs?
7 Extended warranties
Especially with gadgets these days, replacing them might be better than repairing.
These make you spend feel like you need stuff you do not. Some coupons are eve valued less than anything the company sells, so you end up having to add more to get a supposed deal.
9 Energy drinks
Faux strength. The energy they give is for such a minimal time and the are expensive – not the best health option either.
10 Tv packages
Just like I mentioned for subscriptions, Netflix, NowTV, SkyTv, Amazon Prime, Disney +, AppleTv.. if you can watch all these, then re-assess your life. Read a book love or develop yourself by learning a new skill.
11 Luxury goods.
That you can buy something doesn’t mean you can afford it!
12 Cheap stuff!
LOL, you’d smile I know. Quality over quantity. You don’t have to buy the cheapest you find. You’d buy too much and have to replace quick
13 Splurging on baby clothes/items.
Stay cheap here please and avoid luxury, the kids barely wear items more than two times
14 Beauty products, makeup etc
5 red lipsticks means one might get expired before you get to use it. Don’tget carried away with marketing.
15 Keeping money in the bank.
Invest it instead. Asides from the fact that you’d spend it fast, the bank rates are almost zero.
As promised, here is the free course; it’s started already so you can complete it in less than 4 weeks;
